Tim Lovain is an Advisor to Crossroads Strategies, LLC. Although he has worked extensively on multiple issues including tribal, technology and trade issues, Tim has developed a special expertise on federal transportation assistance to state and local governments, working with Congress, the Administration and coalitions to achieve his clients’ federal goals. Tim is also an Adjunct Professor with Virginia Polytechnic and State University (Virginia Tech).
Prior to joining Crossroads Strategies, Tim served as Vice President and General Counsel at Denny Miller Associates for 29 years, and also served as Executive Vice-President at Capitol Strategies. In addition, Tim served for nine years as a Member of the Alexandria, Virginia City Council (2006-2009, 2013-2019). Prior to his time as a government relations professional and elected official, Tim served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Slade Gorton (R-WA); Legislative Director of New Directions, a citizens lobby on international issues; and Legislative Director to Representative Helen Meyner (D-NJ). Tim is also a former Coast Guard Officer.
Tim serves as the Chair of the Washington Area Transit Industry Representatives, Chair of the Public Ferry Coalition, and Immediate Past Chair of the Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors, which advocates for federal freight mobility investments. He formerly served as the Chair of the Transportation Planning Board for the National Capital Region and as a member of the Alexandria Transportation Commission and the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission. Tim has served in leadership positions for several national and regional civic organizations and electoral campaigns. He is the author of numerous newspaper and magazine articles.
Tim received a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Political Science from the University of Chicago; a Master of Arts in Politics from Princeton University; and a J.D. with honors from the University of Washington Law School.
